Easter Memories

I have a couple Easter memories that have stuck with me through the years and I thought I would share them today.

Growing up in Wisconsin, Easter egg hunts weren't a common thing.  For some reason, our parents didn't want to go out in the snow and hide eggs!  That meant they hid our actual Easter baskets inside.  My dad took extreme pleasure in hiding our baskets.  Being as tall as he is, they were almost always over our heads.  I swear some Easter mornings, we were searching for at least an hour!

Another memory is of sunrise service at church.  The trumpets playing just as the sun hit the stained glass cross brought joy to your heart.  Everyone was dressed in their new Easter clothes and all the hymns were happy.  It was one of my favorite services of the year.

Probably my favorite Easter memory of all was when I was stationed overseas in the Air Force.  My grandpa had mailed me a huge box of Easter candy.  (I get my sweet tooth directly from him!).  We're not talking regular Easter candy...he went to the candy counter at the department store downtown and got the good stuff!!  But more special than that, my grandpa knew I hated black jelly beans.  Before mailing the box, he had gone through the jelly beans and taken out all the black ones!  To me, that is the definition of love.  That 81 year old man took the time and trouble to pick out the black jelly beans because his granddaughter didn't like them.  I miss him every day.

Those are a few of my Easter memories.  Share yours!

Love,
Jerri
