A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a check made payable to "The
United States of America" for an amount of "up to and including my life".
To my fellow veterans, a heartfelt thank you for your service.
And to my friends and family still on active duty:
From one who wore the uniform then, a salute to those who wear it now.
