This was my second Mother's Day without my mom. If anything, this year was enough harder as I could not reach out to her with everything I am going through. Though I was not alone all day, the day was extremely lonely.
Our moms are (or are supposed to be) our safe place. No matter what our age, we still need that safe place. When we have reached the age where we are losing our parents, the need for that safe place does not wane. Once our mothers are gone, however, the need for that safe place is now tinged with grief and pain.
If you are still blessed to have your mother, and your safe place, let her know how much you appreciate her. Time is short and moms don't live forever.
Love,
Jerri
