Love Lives Here

This was my personal Facebook post on Saturday morning.  It is an opinion I believe is worth repeating here on my blog.

Winston Churchill once said, “Those that fail to learn from history, are doomed to repeat it.”  Over the past couple of weeks, the news has been full of white v. black, black v. white, straight v. gay, and transgender bashing.  Most of what I have seen posted has been done in the name of God.  Obviously, there is an unlearned and forgotten lesson of history from a true man of God.  This pastor stood for his beliefs and spent years in a concentration camp for doing so.  This is what he wrote:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I choose to stand.  I choose to speak.  Whether black, white, gay, straight, or transgender, I bid you welcome and well met.  If nowhere else than my personal Facebook wall...you have a place here. Love lives here.
